Please join Christy Dammen of the University of St. Thomas, Pat O’Donnell of the McKinley Group, and Tony Nelson of TBN Consulting as they discuss the best ways for you to apply your professional talents toward marketing your most important product…yourself. They will also discuss the hidden job market, and the do’s and don’ts of job search trends. This will be an excellent opportunity to obtain strategies that will put you on the inside track for landing your next job. Speaker Bios Pat O'Donnell Pat has worked as a recruiter and career counselor since 1994. She has placed 50+ people a year in new jobs. Presently Pat is a recruiter for McKinley Group, Inc. working with marketing, product management, taining, and organizational development executives. This role is concurrent to the career counseling she does through Placement Genius, which is a sole proprietorship. Before recruiting Pat spent 20 years as an executive in the advertising industry in market research and strategic planning. Tony Nelson Tony is an independent recruiter for direct-hire, contract, and freelance professionals within the marketing profession (strategic marketing, marketing research, sales, marketing communications, and creative services). Prior to recruiting Tony spent 12 years working for a couple of full-service marketing firms. Christy Dammen Christy Dammen is an MBA career coach for the University of St. Thomas Opus School of Business and has operated her own coaching practice, Appreciative Coaching, for more than seven years. Dammen has a deep appreciation of career change issues, after leaving a 20-year profession as an editor and reporter to pursue her executive and career development coaching goals. She has assisted hundreds of executives and graduate students in finding that perfect fit in both career and job. Tuesday November 18, 2008 6 to 7:30 p.m. |

These are business people you hold great respect for who will challenge and play devil’s advocate with every one of your ideas. The payback of putting yourself under the microscope of other business people can be tremendous. (more…)

I see too many resumes that show the minimum skills required by a job ad but don’t show how well the job applicant performed the tasks or why this candidate is a better risk to interview and hire than other applicants with the same skills. If you are guilty of this, you have qualified your resume to be “in the pile” of qualified applicants but have done nothing to make your resume float to the “top of the pile.” You have less chance of winning an interview.
